Sponsor & Adopt a Room at Monika’s House

If you’d like to increase your organization’s visibility as a champion for domestic violence survivors we invite you to sponsor the renovation of a room at Monika’s House Shelter.

Monika’s House Shelter is Washington County’s only domestic violence shelter, providing emergency accommodation and other services for adults and children escaping imminent physical danger in family violence situations. It is a 27-bed facility (5 family units, 2 singles rooms) in a safe, confidential location, built with the help of Community Development Block Grant funds in 1999. Named after Monika Voits, murdered by her husband in 1999, it is the last resort of more than 230 victims of all ages on the run each year.

Room sponsorship will entail adopting a room at Monika’s House and providing and organizing for its renovation on a given date, depending on your level of commitment (see options attached).  Currently Monika’s House has a variety of flooring, paint colors, second-hand furnishings, and appliances of variable quality and use.  The Domestic Violence Resource Center is kicking off this drive to ensure that each survivor that shelters at Monika’s House is provided with the most nurturing and empowering environment possible.

Sponsor & Adopt a Landscaping Project at Monika’s House

There are now almost 30 Landscaping Projects your group can choose to sponsor at Monika’s House!

The new landscaping plan details ways we can make the shelter property more sustainable, easier to maintain, and designed in a way that encourages individuals and families staying at Monika’s House to better utilize and enjoy the ample space outdoors.
